Montreal, September 7, 2010 – With over three million visitors a year, Mont-Royal Park in Montréal was designed by Frederic Law Olmstead starting in 1874. Despite the evolution of the park, the essentials of the original plan remain. In order to recognise its unique character, the Government of Quebec recently granted it the status of a natural and historical borough. Given this heritage designation, a dozen municipal and provincial organisations had to ratify this project, which included: A play ground conceived with a theme derived from Mount Royal itself, a picnic area in a grassy plain with approximately thirty tables, the redevelopment of roadways and paths which reiterate Olmsteadian framed viewpoints as well as a renewed management of the landscape based on its woodland characteristics. Cardinal Hardy was given the mandate to conceive the playground.

A design that transforms mundane electrical pylons into monuments on the Icelandic landscape.
Boston, August 16, 2010 – In June of this year, the male and female pylon-figures won one of the Boston Society of Architects Unbuilt Architecture Awards. The project was initially submitted for a 2008 competition held by the Icelandic power transmission company, Landsnet, in conjunction with the Association of Icelandic Architects. The submitted design consisted of a single male pylon-figure as shown in the images and description on the file "Choi+Shine - pylon competition document (small)" and on the submitted board "Choi+Shine - pylon comp board (press)". The Icelandic jury awarded the design an honorable mention. At the award ceremony, Landsnet asked Choi+Shine to submit the design of the female pylon-figure, which was shown as a sketch on the competition board. Landsnet expressed interest in building the male and female pylon-figures as functioning monuments at the gateway to Reykjavik. Perhaps due to Iceland's unfortunate economic crisis, the pylon-figures have not (yet) been constructed. The male and female pylon-figures were sent to Landsnet in 2009. A patent was granted for the design submitted to the Iceland competition.
