Toronto, July 09th, 2009 – For twenty-five years IIDEX/NeoCon Canada has been an industry leader and this anniversary year is no exception. This year’s programming and events will celebrate our 25th anniversary and the 75th anniversary of ARIDO, owners of IIDEX/NeoCon Canada. Plus show partner, the Green Building Festival celebrates their 5th anniversary by co-locating with IIDEX.

2009 SPECIAL FEATURES

• 25/75 IIDEX & ARIDO Anniversary Exhibit: ARIDO and IIDEX join forces to celebrate their anniversaries with a special exhibit and will feature a multi-media presentation highlighting the work of ARIDO members over the past 75 years plus favourite IIDEX moments.

• Green Building Festival celebrates with an international line-up of presenters, an exposition of green products and networking events.

• Light Canada is a must see expo featuring the latest in sustainable lighting solutions and technologies. IIDEX/NeoCon Canada in partnership with the Illuminating Engineering Society, Toronto Section (IES) will showcase the latest in interior, exterior, commercial and architectural lighting products plus lamps and lighting controls in over 15,000 square feet of exposition space. With over 100 new Canadian and international exhibitors, Light Canada delivers not only cutting edge design, but will also showcase the monumental advances in sustainable lighting, LED technology, new materials and advances in lighting design.

• THINK:Material makes its world premiere at IIDEX/NeoCon Canada 2009. Anchoring the Material World feature area, THINK:Material is an exhibition that brings together over 50 examples of the most innovative materials from around the globe. From finishes to building materials, architects and designers will have a hands-on opportunity to touch, feel and explore this extensive array of high-performance materials that have been adapted from other industries to the design world.

• The Green Patient Lab returns, transformed by user feedback and with a new focus on technology. It’s easy to envision the possibilities in improving healthcare delivery, by exploring the Green Patient Lab.

• Focus on Architecture – Explore 3 special exhibits on the show floor featuring:
• The winners of the Twenty + Change competition which profiles emerging designers working in architecture, landscape and urban design from across Canada. Meet the winners of this national competition followed by an in-depth panel discussion of the challenges and opportunities facing emerging practices in Canada.

• The winners of the TSA (Toronto Society of Architects) 4th annual poster competition focusing on Green Architecture.

• Explore Fringe Benefits: Cosmopolitan Dynamics of a Multicultural City exhibition. This exhibit is an exploration of the social change and its effect on development in the suburbs presented by Ian Chodikoff, Editor of Canadian Architect.

About the 2009 IIDEX/NeoCon Canada and Green Building Festival:

This year the Green Building Festival (GBF) has co-located its conference and exposition with IIDEX/NeoCon Canada. The two shows have forged a strategic partnership to advance the educational opportunities on sustainable design and architecture, offer an expanded range of exhibitors focused on sustainability, and develop site tours to create one of the largest green building and design events in Canada. The Green Building Festival will present their conference on September 23 and 24, and hold a co-located exposition with IIDEX on the 24 and 25. As well, IIDEX/NeoCon Canada is celebrating 25 years of design firsts; whether it’s products, people, ideas, speakers or events, IIDEX/NeoCon Canada has consistently led the way in bringing design to the forefront of the Canadian design and business sectors.
